The Emir of Lafia , Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad1 ( JSC) retd has inaugurated a zakat implementation committee in his dormain, with the call on Members of the committee to be Transperant and accountable in the discharge of their duties.
The Zakat Committee which has former state chief judge, Justice Badamasi Maina as Chairman are also saddled with the responsibilities of not only collecting the Zakat from the wealthy individuals, but also to ensure that the Zakat collected are shared according to the teachings of the holy Quran and the Hadith of the holy prophet peace be upon him.
Speaking at the occasion, the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad1 who said that members of the committee were carefully selected because of their track records of both public and private sectors, urged them to justify the confidence reposed on them.
Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad1 also reminded them on the teachings of the holy Quran and the Hadith of the holy prophet peace be upon him while discharging their responsibilities.
On his part, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State who thanked Allah ( S.W.A) for making the event possible during his time as Governor of the state.
While congratulating the Emir of Lafia for the initiative, the Governor called on him to ensure that he constituted the state Zakat Committee which would go along way in ensuring that the poor and the needy in the state benefits from the gesture.
The governor therefore assured the Emir of the support of the state government in ensuring the success of the committee at anytime when the need arises.
In his remark, Chairman of the occasion and the Andoma of Doma, Alhaji Ahmadu Aliyu Oga Onawo commended the Emir of Lafia for the initiative and assured of his total Support to the success of the programme.
Also Speaking, Chairman Zakat Committee, Former Chief judge of Nasarawa State, Justice Badamasi Maina while assuring the Emir that they would do their best to ensure the success of the committee, also called for support and cooperation of all asundry to enable them succeed on the enormous tasks ahead.
Highlights of the occasion includes a symbolic presentation of Zakat to the poor and the needy in the society by the governor of Bad state, Engineer Abdullahi Sule.
