Shun corruption and corrupt practices- – – Gov Sule Charges newly elected chairmen. By Abdullahi Shuaibu, Lafia. Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state has charged newly elected chairmen in the state to shun corruption and corrupt practices in the discharge of their responsibilities. The Governor who made the charge during the swearing-in of newly elected chairmen at government house Lafia Friday also urged them to look onwards for the revenue sources that could augment their allocation from the federation account. Governor Sule further used the opportunity to call on them to be prudent, accountable, and transparent in the discharge of their duties,as according to him,” we shall all be accountable before the almighty Allah in the day of judgement”. he added. The governor further reminded them that as chief security officers of their various local governments, they should ensure the security of lives and property of their people. On the policy direction of his administration, the governor urged the newly elected chairmen ensure that they deliver the dividends of democracy to their when they finally settled down in office. While congratulating them for emerging victorious during the local government election in their local governments, the governor urged them not to let them down. Responding on behalf of the 13 local government chairmen, chairman Lafia local government Council. Hon. Aminu Muazu Maifata commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for providing an enabling environment that allowed for free, fair and credible election as conducted by the state Independent Electoral Commission ( NASIEC). Maifata assured the governor that the local guy chairmen in the state will not let him, the people and the state down. He assured their support and cooperation to the policies and programmes of the government at the grassroot levels.

Nasarawa LG élection : APC Clears all the 13 local governments chairmanship,147 councilorship seats. By Abdullahi Shuaibu, Lafia. The All Progressives Congress ( APC) has cleared all the 13 local government chairmanship and 147 councilorship seats during the last Wednesday local government election in Nasarawa state. Chairman, Nasarawa state Independent Electoral Commission ( NASIEC) Barrister Ayuba Wandai Usman who made the declaration Thursday while addressing journalists at the conference Hall of the commission also commended journalists, security agencies, Management and staff of the commission as well as all the political parties that participated during the election. Wandai further commended members of the public for their support and cooperation before, during and after the election, and urged them to maintain the tempo. When answering a question on the ballot box snatching, late arrival of Electoral Materials to the polling units as well as election malpractices, the NASIEC chairman said,”. There was no any report on this issue you raised before my office,as far as am concerned, the local government election was free fair and credible,”. He called on the people to continue to live in peace with one another in the best interest of peace, harmony and the overall development of our state.
